Toyota is continually retooling its approaches to quality control and public relations, appealing simultaneously to consumers and pundits alike (an unenviable task…). Jeffrey Liker, author of The Toyota Way books, road-tests the auto giant’s efforts in Toyota Under Fireand FT.com is along for the ride:

“Toyota has been vindicated on many of the most serious slurs on its quality.… Toyota Under Fire will go further towards rehabilitating the company’s image. The book’s strength is the generous access Toyota gave him to its executives, which makes for a detailed and useful account of the crisis. Liker has a firmer grasp of the technological issues at stake than most of the lawmakers – and some of the supposed experts – who were quick to pillory Toyota a year ago.”
